Contrary to popular belief, golf is actually a physically demanding sport. In an 18 hole round of golf, the average person could burn up to 1,200 calories even if they ride the cart. This number increases if they walk the course depending on the terrain and size of the course. Nutrition is something that is overlooked in the game of golf. Your body needs to be properly fueled to prepare for the rigors of the course if you want to stay focused and play your best throughout the day.
There are multiple meals that need to be eaten in a day to prepare you for your time on the course.
The most important thing about nutrition in golfing is hydration. You need to make sure that you are hydrated before you tee off, but also throughout the holes. Even though we may think so, beer should not be your choice of beverage if you plan on playing golf competitively. Water is always necessary, but also try a sports drink like Gatorade.

These contain electrolytes to replenish those that you are losing while playing.
A golfer needs to make sure that they consume plenty of carbohydrates before they start playing golf as well. Carbohydrates are a source of energy that the body needs to keep going.
Protein can also be a good idea before you start your round of golf. It will help repair all of the muscles that you use while you’re on the course.
Some examples of foods that you may eat before golf are: a sandwich with whole wheat bread, peanuts, fruit, yogurt.
While playing it is important to keep your body fueled, so besides the water or sports drink try eating fruit or peanuts. These will give you the nutrients that your body needs to perform how you want it to.
